Yup, this does seem to happen with 8.3.3. If you drag a UILabel on to a
ViewController and
position it at (0,0), then click away to deselect it, then when you click on
the UILabel again, it
selects the View, not the label. Even if you select the label in the
hierarchical listing pane on
the left (so that the sizing handles appear), when you drag it, the whole view
moves.

Easiest way to get out of it is to go to the position tab in the Utilities
pane, and use the Y
field to move it out of the status bar area (ie Y >= 20) and then you can drag
it. Alternatively,
if you embed your ViewController in an NavigationController before dragging
items on to it, IB
will not let you put anything into that area.

XC 9 doesn't seem to have this problem.
