It’s not just Quick Help; the syntax coloring is also affected. It’s whatever system they both reference.
Again, you are pointlessly speculating on how something might be implemented without having any evidence. There is no evidence that syntax coloring involves individual symbol lookup *as the cursor passes over each word*, which is what your statement (along with what you said earlier) implies. That doesn’t sound plausible. Indeed, I’d take that one fact as evidence that Source Kit is [was] crashing more or less continuously, and conclude nothing about the implementation of anything.
At this point, I would recommend you consider how lucky you’ve been in this thread. After your initial question, which was vague, over-general and mis-used standard terminology, a number of people have managed to drag (painfully) out of you a more exact description of the symptoms, and someone from Apple kindly jumped in to invite you to submit a bug report that presumably would receive some degree of prompt attention. You had the opportunity to submit the bug report, potentially becoming a benefactor to all future developers who might run into the same problem you found. Unless you’re expecting a shower of gold coins too, I’d say you’d done very well.
