Shell script open app. locks script

To put the current screensaver onto the desktop...

ignoring application responses
do shell script "/System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine -background "
end ignoring

This saved as an app works well, except that the applescript app won't quit. I have to force quit this 'launching applet' every time. And, no, it's not stay open. : )
Is there a command line option that I am not aware of that alters the way the process runs? Do I need to put the output into ( dev/null/A&/~/unixy/crypto/stuff/iDon'tKnow ) or some such? In fact no one else has mentioned this issue that I can find.
What happens on your box?

Paul Skinner
