Print to PDF

Does anyone know if there's some way to specify the 'target printer'
parameter of 'print settings', as outlined here:

    http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn2002/tn2082.html

to do  a Print to PDF, in applications that have implemented these "advanced
print settings"?

I'm just wondering if there's a sort of "virtual printer" way of specifying
PDF using print settings.
