I don't know if this work for your situation but it's a PDF print driver
that you should be able to specify as a print parameter:
http://www.physik.uni-wuerzburg.de/~vrbehr/cups-pdf/
It's free.
I tested it with TextEdit and it does work. It's kinda cool, works without
the dialog as well.
