It does? According to the docs it shouldn't, I think.

If I use an NSAttributedString and get its bounds, they are for the largest characters of its font, not for the characters of this string.

And I haven't found a way to determine the base line inside that bounds yet. :-(

Sorry, can't help. Looks like Font metrics and typography could use some more documentation though ...
