how to capture data on USB port

Hi all,

I have been googling for a few days looking for a way
to capture serial data at the USB port. Has anyone
seen a simple example.

Basically I have a phone system that is dumping data
out a serial port that I want to capture and parse. I
have the data being captured on a windows box (because
it was easy) but I want to use my mac...

Thanks,

Ted
