New document repositions to cascade

Hi all!
I have a multi-document app, that works nicely, except for some
aesthetics. One of them is the fact that a new document is placed on
screen first, but then repositions to nicely cascade it with respect to
the already open ones.
Of course, I would first like to have the reposition taking place
before the window is actually thrown on screen, loosing the annoying
jump of each window right after it's appearance....
Any clues?
