Bret:

To my knowledge this does not yet exist (still). The release notes for 10.4 don't show any change in this respect from Panther, so I'm going to safely bet that it's not available.

If you're trying to compress stuff, you might try zlib. There are some NSData categories floating around out there that use zlib to compress data in memory. Maybe someone else knows where (or has an even better suggestion).

Has anyone out there attempted to use the NSWorkspaceCompressOperation or NSWorkspaceDecompressOperation with the performFileOperation: method? All of the documentation I have read suggests these items are *currently* unavailable. However, said documentation was written in 2004. I could really use the functionality but I don't want to build a bunch of code around something that remains disabled.

Thanks.
