Windows above the menu bar?

Fellow hackers,

how can I let my NSPanel be placed above the menu bar? The window is created in code with the NSBorderlessWindowMask style mask, and I've tried various window levels to no success. Looking in Quartz Debug, I can see that Activity Monitor is able to place its CPU floater above the menu bar with a window level of 25, which translates to NSMainMenuWindowLevel + 1. Sounds like just the thing, but it's not working out for my window. Any ideas?

Thanks,
