update - awakeFromNib actually DOES work, but there's other problems... (somewhere testing things out I'd gone back to an NSImageView and messed with the frame sizing rules... *sigh*) It makes more sense to make a new control as I need NSActionCell capability too, and it seems silly to keep replacing NSImageCell bits.
