Sheets seem to be the norm. more with the system prefs, and from a
user perspective, I would dislike a drawer.

One final suggestion: Do without the drawer. Users don't expect

As a long time Mac user (and as a developer) I agree, wholeheartedly,
with this suggestion.
The drawer is optional, but would be nice to have for space
reasons. It is
something I came up with today so am not sure if it will be the
best option
yet.
This would be very annoying to me, and would
prompt me to uninstall the preference pane immediately. If you have
too much content to fit reasonably inside the preference pane
consider other options. Like adding a tab view inside the preference
pane, or even providing the configuration in a separate utility
application (/Applications/Utilities would be a good place to install
that).
It really makes more sense as a Pref Pane and we are already using
a tabbed
interface. The drawer would contain a small thumbnail preview image
a bit
like the Preview application. If we put the thumbnail on the main
window, it
gets more cluttered, and would have to be smaller.
Thanks for your comments,
Trygve
