I know about the meta style in PSMTabBarControl. And yes it's very close, but still not exactly the same look as Safari's tabs. In a dark room, when you are sleepy, they tend to look pretty different to my eyes (the etched lines), in the light of the day not so different.

That must have done the trick. I was just woken up 2 hours earlier than my beauty sleep required, and looking at it again, I see a thin one pixel highlight that's different. I could add the highlight, but then you'd still have to figure out GC. I haven't yet used it for anything.
