Paul,
This is about the craziest thing I've ever heard about Best DE.
I've got a 10PS here in front of me and have just hooked it up via network
to Mac and PC using the supplied rip(PC and Mac), and various Best rip's PC
and Mac. There have been few points in this never ending Quest for good
color that have thrilled me as much as the very first page out of the 10PS
and Best. This was certainly not the case of the supplied HP rip/profiles.
I can't wait to get going and do some customising. I'll bet that I'll get
this printer closer to a press sheet than anything else in this range of
printer.
Rest assured that the hardware is very very good, and that the RIP's will
always have quirks. The difference being that the people at Best are making
a huge effort to be attainable where for third party rip solutions and the
others usually not.
As far as 70% goes I have no idea how much delta E that is but the canned
profiles should be at least this good or better. For the HP10PS in fact is
surprisingly accurate out of the box. I doubt that this particular" special"
sales person had actually tested the 10 and DE. Now I'm fortunate enough to
be there doing just that. It's very nice and works well indeed.
