I think you'll find on Color Vision's website a FAQ about profiling the
Studio Displays but I think it goes something like this:
* Use the Studio Display's internal calibration to set color temp and basic
calibration. I think part of that is setting the contrast to 100% and
brightness to 50%.
* With Optical, simply select Native White Point and make your profile.
If you're using the LCD Spyder, make sure you yank off the special LCD
filter and replace it with the suction cup thingie. And make sure the
ambient lights are off or dimmed.
And yes, make sure Adobe Gamma is outta there and make sure he's on
ColorSync 2.6.1 for OS 8.6.
There's also the possibility that maybe he's getting the CORRECT display of
reds now that his monitor is properly profiled!
