I did not mean to imply a printer module could not call ColorSync and
perform additional transformations, just that there was a transformation
that happened before the printer module was handed the image data to be
printed, and I don't think that can be prevented.
I've asked the printer guys about this in the past (last WWDC) and was told
the conversion from the image's source space to the output space could not
be prevented. When the printer module received the ripped image, it was
already converted to an output space, and unfortunately that meant there was
no easy way to print a raw test target for profiling.
I'll double check this Monday and see if this changed in a later OS version,
and nobody noticed...
