Hello, Peter.
I've seen such effect (extremely darkened shadow tones) when tried to use
profile created with ProfileMaker 3.1.x as INPUT Profile. If I used profiles
created with PrintOpen 3 everything was ok. And no matter where did the
Device profile created (in my case it was created in ProfileMaker 3.1.x). So
I would recommend you to try enother profiling software.
About Harlequin RIP ink limiting and color engines: The RIP I've worked with
had an exellent calibration module where user can perform linearisation and
ink limiting by entering dot area values. Also ink limitation can be done in
Color engine while configuring rendering intent and gray component
generation. But I prefer to do it in Calibration module.
