Somewhat off-topic, my apologies.
Part a: When selecting out of gamut colors (Select > Color Range > out of
gamut colors) in PhotoShop (6 or 7 Mac), which gamut does it use? I tried on
an Lab image with a ColorMatch RGB AC proof setup, but the result is not the
same as when using the View > Gamut Warning command. The latter does
correspond to a monitor gamut, presumably ColorMatch, but the former looks
like a printer gamut - my question is which one? I would assume that the
selection uses the proof setup, but apparently not. Says the 3select color
range2 online help:

on RGB and Lab images. (An out-of-gamut color is an RGB or Lab color that

cannot be printed using process color printing.
But it doesn9t say which process color profile or gamut is being used. Hey,
did somone invent a universal process color gamut and they didn9t tell me
;-? I would venture a guess that it9s the CMYK working space, but I9d rather
know for sure.
Part b: if my guess is correct, could this be changed so that it uses the
proofing setup profile/gamut in stead? Or better still, a selectable
profile/gamut in the Select Color Range dialog box? I know, the Easter Bunny
doesn9t usually take wish lists, but it never hurts to ask...
Thanks,
Johan Lammens
