Rich, I have tested basICColor display (which shares many features with
ColorEyes Display), and, like you, it's also my impression that when using
L-Star the gradients are vastly smoother than anything I can achieve using
gamma, either with this software or with EyeOne Match. I was very impressed.
Visible banding is ALMOST gone, from what I can see.

Too bad that I have no way to test the DDC functions myself. Incidentally,
it sounds like a good way to salvage older DDC-aware units, from what you
say.

I have not seen how ColorEyes Display handles this task of adding extra
grayscale measurement points, but in basICColor display the grayscale
ramp/gradient sample looks too small to me effectively to judge issues of
banding and color casts. It should be much larger, in my opinion.

I tried using the gamut compression feature, but I ended up with a really
BAD profile, very contrasty and plugged up in the shadow. I probably did
something wrong, I don't know. I am still getting to know this software.
