Not without a huge loss of precision for emissive systems. I insist, the red
peak is concentrated within an extremely narrow band, one or two nanometers.

Because a colorimeter "emulates" with filters the way the human eye responds
to light.
Greater? That depends on the extent of the filters.
Sorry, I don't mean to extend this thread to death but this business about
which instrumentation is "better" for measuring displays is one of my
favorite color topics ;-)
