preview/photoshop

shouldn't I get the same color if I open a document (same system, same monitor) containing an embedded ICC profile in Preview, Safari, mail or iphoto as I do when I open the same document containing the embedded profile in Photoshop?

If I open a photo with embedded sRGB profile in Preview/Safari/iphoto/mail it is consistently more saturated and darker than the same photo opened in photoshop (using sRGB working space). Same result if photo is embedded with Adobe RGB or any other profile. I understand that Mac will assume the monitor profile for nontagged photos, but I can't figure out what is happening with tagged images.
