So would the introduction of a LUT based display profile (Optix XR
Pro) affect the outcome significantly?
Very possible because the second half of the "link" created by two
profiles causes the CMM to defer more to the gamut mapping dictated in
that profile, since it's LUT based. I haven't done much testing on CMM
gamut mapping behavior, but it is a very interesting question.
There was a recent post to this list suggesting that PS "mishandles"
LUT profiles in some instances. Any comment on that?
Do you know how the Apple apps handle LUT based display profiles?
I do recall Photoshop complaining about some LUT based profiles for one
reason or another. I can't remember if it was a "oh my god are you SURE
you want to use this horrible profile!?" or "this profile sucks and you
can't make me use it!" error message. But I confess I haven't had it
happen often enough to find out what the deal is. If you have a profile
that causes this problem, and have details on what created it (exact
version # and settings) I might be able to reproduce it and find out
what's up.
