Quentin!
I presume we skip Input and Display profile functions and concentrate on
Output profiles. You're right that there are things missing in PULSE
ColorElite compared to MonacoPROOF. But which functions do you have in mind
specificly? I have not yet had the time to fully compare the results with
the profiles made in ColorElite, but looking at the functions in the two
applications ColorElite misses the following, that's avaliable in PROOF:
* Color patch ink limit (In Select patch options, advanced options)
* Default Rendering Intent
* Paper Color Control
* Contrast adjustment
The ability to reduce the ink limit in the testchart is great and often
necessary to be able to profile sensitive media in ink jet printers. I hope
X-rite will add that function to ColorElite, it has been requested. I seldom
or never change the defaults in the other three functions (Default Rendering
Intent etc).
ColorElite, on the other hand, has some advantages compared to PROOF:
Patch set "quality" choice (number of patches) 530, 917 and the ECI 1485
patches testchart compared to Proof's 373, 525 and 911. ColorElite also has
a choice of "Viewing condition", that is not available in Proof.
The Ink Control Settings (Black Generation levels, Maximum black ink,
Maximum total ink) appears to be the same, and "Profile Tools" are the same
as you find under "Edit" in PROOF. Both application's capabilities are of
course limited compared to MonacoPROFILER, PrintOpen etc, but these are
entry level applications.
Please share any experiences from comparing MonacoPROOF to PULSE ColorElite!
