Fixing them in Tiger and not in Panther
Writing a whole new image handling framework and getting all Apple
apps rewritten to use it isn't a software update kind of change. It's
a new version of the OS kind of change.
I'm not expecting a whole new image handling framework in 10.3. I'm
talking about applications from Apple that have routinely ignored
embedded profiles, the current display profile, and in particular the
case of Preview which saves out files either without embedded profiles
or with the wrong profile embedded. Quartz filters still have an entire
legion of bugs, not a single one of which I can imagine has anything to
do with needing a whole new image handling framework. Clearly it is
possible for apps to do the right thing in 10.3, without a grandiose
new image handling framework because they exist. They just aren't
written by Apple.
