Excuse me if this topic has been discussed previously.
I´ve been thinking that with brighter LCD´s the past wisdom of working in a
low light environment, which was appropriate with CRTs, is possibly no
longer the case.
I´m finding the results from students adjusting images in darkened `digital
labs´ to be too dark as they look much brighter on the screen than they
should.
Wouldn´t a higher ambient (room) illumination level help resolve this?
Are there any guidelines developed to address this relationship?
Has anyone yet crafted a formula for determining the optimum room
illumination according to the brightness (white level) of an LCD?
The monitors would certainly be equipped with hoods and the ambient light
would be something like Philips D50's.
Thanks for any light you can shed on this :-)
Russell
