FYI: Monitor profile forcing in educational / student Labs
I remember posts on this topic several years back. I thought Id post
the solution we came up with here because it is working so well for us.
We wanted colour managed student labs (Mac) where the default behaviour
was that any user would get the current custom monitor profile for any
work station they logged onto it. Without having to explicitly navigate
through the monitor control pane to get it.
We wanted this behaviour to meet the needs of our first year students.
So they would experience a working colour managed environment, without
having to confront first year students with navigating through system
preferences.
The solution our IT people came up with was to write a log-in script
that looks for the custom monitor profile that we save into the
workstations colorsysnc folder and then the script loads that monitor
profile as the users monitor profile.
We chose to use a naming convention for our custom monitor profiles of
'computer name'_date so that we didn't end up with a whole heap of
profiles all named "custom monitor profile_date" floating around.
The script looks for an occurrence of 'computer name' in the profiles
name and loads it.
['computer name' is the computer name as per system profiler]
