Ok there seems to be a lot of confusion here. Yes in an RGB print
flow IDCS3 prints different than PDCS3. And there is also a
difference when printing from IDCS3 between running on a PPC or Intel
chip.
Ok here is the procedure for printing a proper color target for
profiling an RGB inkjet printer.
In IDCS3 under color settings set it to "Emulate Adobe InDesign 2.0
CMS Off"
Create new document for placing Profilemaker or other target into.
Set Transparency Blend Space to RGB.
Place Profilemaker Target (RGB target). A larger patch target will
generally be more accurate. I used to use the TC9.18 RGB i1.pdf
target but lately I think I am getting better profiles using Bill
Atkinson's targets.
Go to print. You will not be able to set any Color-management setting
in the ID's print dialog which is the way it should be.
Output setting should be RGB Composite.
Now open Printer driver dialog. The most important thing is to turn
color management in the printer driver.
Now set your paper setting and other parameters in the print driver.
Save these settings. This also very important because when you print
with IDCS3 doing the color management you need to use the exact same
printer driver settings as when you printed the profile target.
Ok the printer driver setting, and back in the ID print dialog hit
print.
Later when you are printing with ID (for photos) make sure the
assigned profile for for the ID doc matches what are the assigned
profiles for the photos.
