Interesting. AFAIK, the RGB printing pipeline isn't consistent across CS
products, even today, as I mentioned in one of my earlier reply. If those
folks in that thread you quoted say they are happy with what they're seeing
then they must be on to something. But last time I tried this with a desktop
inkjet RGB printer here, it ended up in sheer frustration and awe. Fixing
this 'problem' was not a development priority within the InDesign
development group at the time I was doing my testing. One thing is sure,
though, those who have access to a CMYK printing pipeline or some kind of
PostScript RIP or proofing RIP are forever shielded from these RGB printer
drivers' implementation vaguaries. But I understand your goals and the need
of those users you're trying to help -- I feel your pain :(
