There are two bulbs rated at 4700K and
5000K. We purchased the 5000K bulbs expecting the color temperature to be
fairly close to this, but when we measured it we see it is 4450K. According
to a Solux engineer, the term “D50” in their product literature refers to
the spectral nature of the light

Because D50 is an exact color where Kelvin is a range of colors (many colors correlate to the same kelvin value). I think as well that you would want the 4700K bulbs.

I was also told, the newer "5000K" bulbs are for those who refuse to accept anything not labelled as such.
