Now that technology makes it posable for us to measure increasingly
smaller units, and calibrate more aspects of our work, has anyone
sought to establish rational human based ranges for these measurements?
I find the level of finite detail far exceeds my requirements to
produce solid photographic prints, or calibrate my monitors.
How much of this dialogue is in pursuit of requirements for offset or
advanced digital production, and driven by vendor or customer needs to
replicate commercial items? And then just how close do you need to get?
It seems to me that real world color management for most trades is a
lot more human scale, and less driven to exclude one device or another.
