:) Yes, I'm pure Apple now (converted about 3 years ago, was FBSD/ Linux before with some Windows scattered about). I have used some different platforms and I currently have CFMX7 Enterprise, but I really like what I've seen about WO vs. others so far (I will still keep CF in my pocket due to some reporting mechanisms, Flash generation and so forth). I really do want to learn WO and become very proficient. I'm preparing to deploy an Xserve for hosting around late summer to fall, but it would be nice to deploy WO apps on JRun until that point... So, yeah, pretty set on WO.

Interesting. Being rather new to WO and even J2SE, where would I find some good information about deploying my WO apps on JRun? I have a linux server that runs CFMX7 and would like to also be able to simultaneously deploy a WO app or two as I go.

Hi!

Did anybody yet figure out if WebObjects 5.3 is a free update or a
major release?

I'm currently downloading xCode 2.1. I shall see if it comes with
only the tools for WO development or with a full-blown WebObjects
installation.

Will 5.3 be available for other platforms. Is Windows development
still supported or is it all xCode now?

Well, they updated the product page :

http://www.apple.com/webobjects/specs.html

Platforms

     * Mac OS X v10.4.1with Xcode 2.1 (development)
     * Mac OS X Server v10.4.1

So no dev tools on Windows. But they do says that you can deploy in
any J2SE environment :

Flexible Deployment
Stand-alone J2SE server

     * Runs on virtually any Java 2, Standard Edition, 1.3.1 virtual
machine application
