Xcode 2.2 Error reporting

I've installed Xcode 2.2 and now I just get:

Command /Developer/Private/jam failed with exit code 1

instead of the more useful compiler messages I used to get before. This is if there is a compile error but it does indicate where in the code the error might be. Am I missing something?
