Pfft. A toy. ;-)
I actually really think Gianduia is a great thing and I'm eagerly
anticipating tools to leverage it as much as anyone, but if what you
need is a client-server app and there isn't a mobile requirement, then
you should at least look at JC and D2JC.
I just took an internal, mostly-CRUD (create, read, update, delete) WO
Web app and redid it as a D2JC app, reproducing all the functionality
of the Web app, and added substantially more functionality and wrote 0
lines of Java and 0 lines of HTML/CSS/JavaScript - all in about 2 days
of work. I didn't even hand-write rules since the EOAssistant for D2JC
works great.
Basically, the only two files in the whole project that contain
anything custom are the EOModel and the D2WModel files.
Here's a screen shot of one of the windows:

Hey! Did I hear "JavaClient"?! :-D
Yeah, it will be cool if someday we get the tools to do something
client-server like JavaClient.
Oh wait! We already _have_ WebObjects-based JavaClient, and Direct-
To-JavaClient and it works today and has for _years_.
Sure, it's not as "cool" as a browser-based solution, in the same
way WO isn't as "cool" as Ruby.

template updated**

Not really sure... basically you'd need something totally new, as
this would be more like JavaClient and not like a web app. But all
this is *moot* until we don't have it.

Yeah .. I suspect there could be a GianduiaLook, and that would
make a lot of sesnse.

I think we've seen with the SproutCore stuff that it's not.
Apart from *maybe* a JS D2W.

rom my perspective, I don't know that it's worth building a
server stack on top of it as much as I think it would be nice
to leverage the development tools we already have to make it
easier to write the Javascript.
