OSX user login failure - HELP

I installed fink, x11 and it all seemed to work fine.
Then i installed vim, ssh, and kde and after restart of
OS X i could not login with my user account. Root login
however works fine.
Any idea of what to change in order to get my user
account working.
I might close my eyes and reinstall OS X but what then
about my fink and x11 install - should i also install
them again?
