Compiling Gaim CVS??

Anyone have success compiling a CVS build of Gaim??
Running into oddities and cant get it to work!
Now I just reinstalled my 800 tower tonight..
Before that I could get it to actually get to the make process..
I did eventually hit a snag which I determined was an outdated version
of gettext that I also couldnt compile!
So now Im back at square one and I get the same message I get on my
Powerbook, it cant find either my Glib2 or gtk+2 fies.
Im running xterm under X11 (0.2.1) since my .xinitrc path seems to
work better than the regular OS X terminal finding things like gettext
and libtool..
So what do I have to do to make it see my libraries??
Any ideas? I havent installed any of them with Fink yet, just the
packages from OpenDarwin.
But Fink is on the TiBook and same message..
Any ideas?
