Xquartz doesn't use the keymapping files by default in 0.2 (they were obsoleted by a different key layout scheme in 10.2). The test I have been using is, "Does it match what KeyCaps shows for the current input settings?"


btw, if you really want to use the keymapping files, you can do:

defaults write com.apple.x11 keymap_file UK.keymapping
