Comparing the output of xmodmap -pke between X11 and XDarwin is

There
are 30 differences between them, but only the dead keys really show up
in
normal use.
Xquartz doesn't use the keymapping files by default in 0.2 (they were
obsoleted by a different key layout scheme in 10.2). The test I have
been using is, "Does it match what KeyCaps shows for the current input
settings?"
btw, if you really want to use the keymapping files, you can do:
defaults write com.apple.x11 keymap_file UK.keymapping
