Kurt,
I still have a copy of X11 beta 3 and the SDK that goes with it. I do
not have enough room on my home page to place it for download, it is
about 42 Megs and I have only 30 Megs left. I could try mailing it to
you if you think your system could take a file that large. I also hope
that this is OK with apple.
Why wouldn't it be? I know, I know, there's the control issue, but no
Apple person has, to my knowledge, commented to this list that they
frown on the activity. And since Panther has been out less than a
fortnight, I can't imagine that Apple intends to abandon customers
using OS X <10.3 to the wolves.
Making life difficult for customers promotes more people buying the
latest & greatest. That's a lot different from actively harassing a
loyal customer base by threatening developers.
That said, I, too, have a copy - sorry for not replying earlier - and
the space at ".mac" to host it. If you haven't found another copy, let
me know, and I'll send a link once I've uploaded it.
I'd prefer not to leave it up there - who knows when I'll need an extra
45 MB? - so I'll define a mutually convenient 24- or 48-hour window.
If you've managed to acquire a copy, great! If not, be forewarned: I
(foolishly, I admit) failed to hang onto the SDK disk image, so
anything you have that requires that - fink, for example - won't work
with what I've got.
Cheers -
