Or you could do it the easy way and have this file be generated for
you automatically with "mkfontdir". See "man mkfontscale" and "man
mkfontdir" for how to automatically generate fonts.dir and
fonts.scale files. Note these programs, which are run for you during
some installations, will overwrite any hand edits you may have made
to these files.
