Do you get any sort of crash log? Unfortunately, every one of those
messages is 100% normal.

Sorry for the slow response. I meant to try this out on Monday but
got swamped at work.
The command brings up a full-screen window xdmcp behind the dock, lets
me type my username in the login field, and then crashes when I press
enter. I included the output below.
$ /usr/X11/X11.app/Contents/MacOS/X11 -query 10.1.2.58
X11.app starting:
Xquartz server based on X.org Release 7.2, built on 20071109
Check-in failed: Permission denied
meta mod is 4
Quitting XQuartz...

Instead of running "/usr/X11R6/bin/Xquartz -query 1.2.3.4 &", try
running "/usr/X11/X11.app/Contents/MacOS/X11 -query 1.2.3.4 &" from
Terminal.app. You'll probably have to click on the X11.app icon
before you can log in -- but I just tried this with a Linux box
and it
seemed to work.
