Is it still supported to just upgrade the Xquartz from
the original Leopard install? While I applaud the idea of
Apple leveraging the X.org community for additional programming
support, it is very worrisome that we are forking here between
the Apple's x.org and the commmunity version. Specifically, I
attempted to deinstall the 2.1.0.1 release earlier today on
one machine and then reinstall the original packages from
the Leopard DVD. I deleted all of the x11 plist files before
reinstalling as well as the X11 directories. However this
still left me with a mangled X11.app that wouldn't run properly
(claiming it couldn't find a display). Things could quite
easily get out of hand from a support viewpoint if the process
for regressing back to Apple's X11 version in Leopard isn't
tested and well documented. We don't want Leopard to become
as unstable as the worst hobbyist releases of Linux.
