One X11 icon period is the intended behavior and what happens if you
don't keep any in the dock. If you keep it in the dock, you will end
up with an "extra" icon.

ps If I execute a second instance of 'xterm' from a second
Terminal window, I don't get a second X11 icon. I also don't
get a second X11 icon if I execute 'xterm &; xterm &'.
That is the intended behavior. We don't want to clutter the dock with
