porting C++ from Visual Studio to Xcode and Linux

  • Subject: porting C++ from Visual Studio to Xcode and Linux

I am having difficulty trying to port C++ code written in Visual Studio
to Xcode and Linux. I am fairly new to IDEs and would appreciate
any pointers or suggestions of resources to find out how to do this.
Currently we are getting problems related to handling of target
directories to avoid overwriting intermediate object code, etc. I
looked in the FAQ and archives and found some general discussion, but
nothing very concrete to use on this subject.

Thanks *very* much for any help you can provide!
