4) Delete in whitespace behavior is very strange. It seems to be trying to
do something smart, changing spaces to tabs. But what happens to me is I
have some space in front of text, try to delete the space and type some more
text, and invariable end up deleting the first letter of my text. Is there
no way to disable this quote-unquote smart feature? (frankly, if I want a
text editor that thinks it knows what I want better than I do, I'd be using
usoft word).
I'm not quite sure if this is what you're seeing, but for some reason
the tab key can get bound to "Indent Friendly Insert Tab" which is
IMO entirely wrong -- if this is set, then even if you have "Editor
uses tabs" set, the editor will often use spaces instead of tabs when
you type the tab key.
