I did an upgrade, and it corrupted my hard disk so bad that I
cannot even do
an "Archive & Install" of Mac OS X any more :-(
I'm pretty sure that this is not a hardware problem, but a bug in
the Java
documentation postflight script (there were a lot of errors in the
Installer
console concerning faulty rm commands).
It sounds like a bad file system (or faulty hard drive) to me that
was aggravated by operations in the installer. Did you try running a
file system check? (not just permission check)
Also did you have any Java developer previews installed? Or hand
modified links related to Java? etc.
I have installed 2.2 on several systems some clean installs others
over prior Xcode installs, no problems here (some with full Java
install other without).
