On the other hand, if Visual Studio also automatically emits an emms
in this case I'd suggest filing a bug at bugreport.apple.com to
request that GCC do this.
Just a note -- I use CodeWarrior to compile my Windows stuff... I
have no idea if Visual Studio does this for you. Do you think I
should still file a bug?
SSE code is often (though admittedly not always) faster than the
equivalent MMX code and doesn't have the emms problem, so you might
want to think about using SSE.
Good point -- it's legacy code that needs to be updated to SSE. But
for now, I just needed it to work.
