Please read the Xcode user's guide for the answer to this question.
Each target can have multiple build configurations -- by default,
there are two: Debug and Deployment.  Each builds its products into a
separate directory.

Also, when posting on Xcode-users, it's usually better to mail the
list and CC explicitly-interested parties, unless you really want the
conversation to remain private.  I have CC-ed Xcode-users on this
reply so that others may also be able to see your questions and assist
you.
