I'm not sure exactly when ISO 639 came into play, but I'm pretty
sure that
Mac OS X 10.3 supported them. I do believe the old legacy language
names
have been depreciated for quite some time (maybe even back to 10.0,
and thus
ISO 639 worked then) and you really shouldn't use them.
FWIW, Apple is still using them in Leopard, so I expect they'll be
supported for some time to come. I wouldn't lose sleep over this.
Pick one and move on to something else that users will actually see. ;-)
