I seem to remember having to type Apple-S, Apple-W 27 times in a

Actually, we say Command-S and Command-W. Windows users say Apple-S
and Apple-W. ;-)
Have I been slandered???
Based on the rest of your response, most definitely. LOL
Or maybe John is an old-school Apple II user. It was called the
Apple
key before it was called the Command key. :)
Arg! Which is worse? Apple II or Windows? That's a tough call.
Are you saying Windows is on par with the Apple ][ ?
Actually, now I'm slandering. I've never used an Apple II. It was
before my time. My first computer was a Mac Plus.
That particular key on my keyboard has two symbols. One is an Apple
and the other can best be described as an inverse, self-
intersecting roundrect.
Actually it's best described as the Unicode "place of interest"
character:
kCommandUnicode = 0x2318, /* Unicode PLACE OF
INTEREST SIGN*/
So, yes, I call it the "Apple key".
Yes, I figured that's why you call it that. But a *real* Mac
developer ;-) knows the correct term and uses it instead of calling
it what someone who doesn't even use a Mac would call it.
From the most recent version of the Apple Style Guide:
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/
APStyleGuide/AppleStyleGuide2006.pdf
"Apple key - Don’t use. The key with the Apple logo is the Command
key. See also
Command key."
And:
"Command key - On first use in print user documentation, identify the
Command key with
its symbol: Command (⌘) key. Thereafter, just use Command key.
Don’t use Apple key."
