Have you tried using make, gcc and ld from Terminal? In what way(s) do they not meet your needs?


MPW is an IDE, it's just a different kind of IDE. I used it extensively back in the 1990's and every team I worked on ended up developing scripts and menu items to make it more like CodeWarrior and Xcode.

If you could be more specific it could be useful to understand what you're not getting from Terminal and command-line tools.
