Humm... I don't see this issue. I have tried turning off the gutter as well. I always see about 4 pixels of space. You sure you don't have a horizontal scroller showing and scrolled to the right some?

No, it happens even in windows with nothing to scroll. Here are two comparison shots:

The Xcode screen shot looks similar to what I see, the text starts 4 pixels in from the left edge of the document window. I thought you had text slammed up to the left edge of the editor.

Personally I don't think this is an issue but... (granted mail has 8 pixels)

I agree that Mail has a larger margin than normal. However, it's not the same in Xcode for me as previous versions and bugs me immensely…
